Hey everyone as the Gentle Typhoons are out of stock well everywhere I've been trying to pick a different fan, my problem is that I want to run push pull on a 480 Radiator and want to plug them into a Lamptron Touch controller so I can use the loop temp to manage the fan speed automatically... I know that all fans at start up pull a bit more as they struggle to get moving from a dead stop, I just don't know how much more. Like I said someone told me they thought it was up to 4 times more so if a fan pulls 1.5 watts at start up if this is true it would for a second or two pull 6 watts.I wouldn't worry about start up power, but I don't trust most fan controller specs either if they are not software controlled. I would suggest just using the running consumption tested and keep the power level to 10 watts per channel. Even with heat sinks, 30 watts is really too much to dissipate passively.Unfortunately the fan amperage specs are also not right. Yate loons for example say 0.3amp regardless of which model which is conservative. ... Yep the other thread you posted in was also mine, and what I'm starting to see from everything that I've looked at is that this supposed higher start up power draw doesn't truly exist or really isn't the problem that everyone thinks it is as long at you are going with a quality controller and not a cheapy.
